SDI Recommends Linux
We have been encouraging everyone we know to switch to Linux. Linux is an alternative to operating systems like Microsoft's Windows and Apple's Mac OS. Linux comes in a dizzying array of choices, but we've settled on a short list of favorites which we highly recommend. All of our preferred versions (called distributions or "distros") are completely free, and we use them daily for ourselves and our clients.
Linux tends to be more secure, faster, and more stable. Windows is more compatible with hardware and software. Linux works better than Windows on older hardware and low-memory computers. Linux servers are also far less expensive than Windows servers, especially when adding new workstation licenses. Two Important Announcements
SDI is expanding our level of service in two ways. First, we've changed our website address to www.sdicomputer.com to make it easier to find and remember, and we also have more 'room' to expand our online services. Second, and most important, is that we have hired Bob Edwards to fill the role of Senior Consultant. Bob brings extensive experience in electronics and oilfield technologies in addition to his skills in PC troubleshooting.
